Here are some untold stories of Mahabharat that you haven’t heard of.
Bhima was willing to avoid the war by becoming a slave of Duryodhana. When Bhima attempted to slay Ashwathama in Souptika Parva then not even Sri Krishna and Arjuna could succeed in stopping/restraining him.
When Bhima continued to fight against Narayanastra of Ashwathama then Arjuna saved Bhima by using Varunastra. Bhima was dragged by Sri Arjuna and Krishna on the fifteenth day when he refused to stop fighting against the Narayana weapon.
Bhima defeated Duryodhana in archery more than Duryodhana defeated Bhima with the same form of warfare. Bhima spent five years in Vana Parva perfecting his archery skills by hunting.
Bhima consumed the meat of animals a lot particularly meat of the deer. Bhima tried to stop Kunti from going to the forest years after the Kurukshetra war, he was the only Pandava brother to do so. Arjuna claimed that Bhima is the only one who has the right to question him/scold him.
Bhima defeated Karna in archery a lot of times and brutally killed his ego. Bhima was an all-rounder who could wrestle, use the sword, mace, bow, etc. Bhima defeated the seven rulers of the Kirata tribe in his Digvijay campaign. Bhima defeated Bhisma using the bow and Bhisma ran away.
In front of the eyes of Bhisma and Drona many kaurava brothers & kuru princes were slain by Bhima, he was only using arrows, not the mace. In Kurukshetra Bhima mostly fought using the bow and arrow, not the mace (as depicted in TV serials).
Bhima was holding back when he fought with king Jarasandha, as instructed by Sri Krishna Bhima only put forth as much strength as Jarasandha himself put forth and never used his full power, once Krishna gave the order bhima quickly killed jarasandh.
Bhima killed Karna’s son Bhanusena on the 17th day in front of karna’s eyes and karna could not do anything at all. Bhima used normal arrows to kill the son of Karna in day time, while karna killed bhima’s son Ghatotkatcha using a celestial astra of Indradev that too at night time.
When Arjuna won Draupadi’s swayamvar, then Bhima disguised as a brahmin had to fight to protect others, his main opponent was Shalya (his maternal uncle) not Duryodhana (as depicted in tv serials) who barely fought brahmins in that incident.
Bhima’s mace weight one and a half times more than Duryodhana’s mace.
According to Shri Balarama the mighty Bhima came back from every war in his eastward digvijay for Indraprastha completely unharmed/uninjured. Meaning the kings he fought (including karna) failed to wound him.
Bhima conquered the kingdoms of Anga and vanga, both areas had some parts ruled by Karna as well, proving he was also defeated by Bhima. At that time Karna had no knowledge of his blood connection with Bhima neither did he provide anyone with a promise, so no excuse for his defeat.
Bhima was the one who reacted the most whenever Draupadi Devi was displeased. Bhima insulted Yudhishthira only once and that is after the war was over when he called Yudhishthira eunuch.
Bhima killed 90 Kaurava brothers, not all 100. The other men were killed by Arjuna on the day of Karna’s death. When Karna threw a normal dart on Bhima during the 14th night, then Bhima caught it with his hands and threw it back at Karna & then Sakuni had to save Karna with ordinary arrows, the text of Mahabharat says Karna was going to die. Bhima’s description is that of a man with golden skin complexion, eyes like lotus petals, and the shoulders of a lion. He was like a golden lion.
